GLITCH EVOLUTION 2.1

A variety of humanoid ancient statues underwent parametric modification through a digital evolution software written in Processing. The program simulated modification of the genome by „cloning“ 3d models of the statues for hundreds of times, while influences of the digital environment had a potential small effect on the cartesian coordinates of every single vertex of the polygon model.

Analogous to natural influences like cosmic radiation facilitating evolutionary processes by causing mutations in the genome of living organisms, the deviation of a semi-random number generator from true randomness did influence the outcome of the process. Three specimen with observed aesthetic qualities were selected for „being born“ through 3d printing and bronze casting, simulating the process of natural selection.
